Syngenta Vegetables wanted a video to educate and promote their Harvest Indicator Trait in melons. This trait allows varieties to change color when ready to harvest, ready to ship, and ready to eat meaning that growers, shippers, retailers, and consumers don’t need to depend on less reliable signs. Varieties that feature the Harvest Indicator trait are part of the new IDEAL Melon portfolio. They also fit in a subset of products called Long Shelf Life (LSL) melons, but differ because they maintain sweetness and aroma, unlike many LSL melons on the market. We needed to educate the audience on what the Harvest Indicator trait is and inform them of the benefits of the trait (and differences from traditional LSL melons). This lead to Ideal Melons being the perfect match for growers, shippers and retailers.
